FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Aerouant, LLC Contracts with Navajo Nation to Provide Safer, Healthier Childcare Centers Using UVC Technology
Subcontracts with Navajo-Owned Innovative Electric
January 23, 2023 – Aerouant, LLC —a leading New Mexico-based federal procurement and acquisition company—has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract with the Navajo Nation to provide state-of-the-art UVC air recirculation, surface purification, and light disinfection technology to 23 childcare facilities. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the life expectancy of Native Americans has decreased by 6.6 years from 2019 to 2021 alone, according to the CDC, making real, sustainable solutions to combatting airborne illnesses a top priority.
Upon implementation, the Navajo Nation will become one of the first Native American tribes to utilize UVC technology—the first sustainable and non-chemical approach to combating viruses and bacteria. The UVC surface and air disinfection units are the first chemical-free product that provides continuous and powerful disinfection to safely eradicate surface and air pathogens and viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, while continuously ventilating the room with purified air. The product attacks viruses and bacteria through a patented ionization sterilizing process that damages the cellular structure of virus and bacteria, rendering it inactive and unable to replicate. UVC, also known as UVGI, has been CDC recommended for air disinfection in schools and businesses.
“Our partnership with the Navajo Nation furthers Aerouant’s commitment to creating safer and healthier environments for all children and communities,” said Roxy McMains, majority owner of Aerouant. “We understand reaching healthcare facilities often requires extensive planning and travel for those residing on the Navajo Nation, reducing access to medical services and increasing the likelihood sicknesses will spread. We pride ourselves on working with chapter leaders and procurement specialists to continually invest in the health and well-being of our communities. Beginning with the introduction of UVC technology in childcare centers, we will protect our most valuable asset – our children.”
The project includes installing commercial LED lights, internal UVC air handling units, external UVC bulbs and bi-polar ionization technology on approximately 900 fixtures, as well as an LED conversion for the remaining building lights to ensure lower energy costs.
As part of Aerouant’s commitment to keeping funding within the community by hiring local and giving priority to companies within the tribal nations for subcontracting opportunities, Aerouant has subcontracted with Innovative Electric—a Native American-owned business consisting of only Navajo licensed apprentices and journeymen. Certified in Programmable Logic Controls (PLC) and fiber utilities and fiber install, Innovative Electric will serve as the lead on all installation working in close partnership with Cyrus Davison, [title] [organization].
“Our Navajo communities have been hit hard during COVID. We’ve lost many community and family members, and we continue to struggle against the pandemic,” said Al Ration, owner of Innovative Electric. “We’re honored to work with Aerouant and the Navajo Nation to address this critical issue and ensure better disinfection and safer learning environments for children and staff. Healthier environments across the Navajo Nation means people can return to and remain at work to support their families.”
